In 2005 Roclin were approached by a high-end European
bathroom products manufacturer. With a brand that has become
synonymous for quality over the last thirty years, the
client was anxious to ensure that their cost-reduction
efforts did not impact their position as the high-end leader
in their market. Roclin responded by contacting over 100
potential Chinese suppliers of the required component, along
with numerous local industry buyers, suppliers and experts.
Later, in-depth research including speaking to current and
former clients and visiting short-listed factories to speak
with management was undertaken to assist with supplier
selection. Out of hundreds of candidates, ultimately Roclin
were able to identify one leading factory with the required
equipment, skills and experience.
Roclin then worked with the factory to improve their quality
standards and quality control procedures. Strict on-site
quality checking was also implemented by Roclin QC staff, to
ensure problems were rectified at the China factory, rather
than being shipped to the client's European assembly
facility and possibly entering their final products.
Within months, savings in the order of 50%, representing
over US$1,000,000 annually were delivered. At the same time,
higher quality and lower reject rates were achieved relative
to the client's previous European suppliers. Roclin are now
working with the client to extend these savings and quality
improvements across other components and products.
